Arthur Ayres Jr.

SALISBURY - Arthur Ayres, Jr., 45, of Salisbury, died on his birthday, July 9, 2016, after a battle with lung cancer. A son of Arthur Ayres, Sr. and the late Joyce Ann Ayres, he was a mechanic by trade and employed by Eden Used Auto Parts in Eden. Known as "June-June/Bug," he started working on cars at the age of nine and loved to drag race motorcycles. In addition to his father, he is survived by two sons, Alijha Purcell and Ayden Ayres, both of Salisbury; three daughters, Kayelynn Ayres of Snow Hill, Madilynn Lovett of Salisbury and Alexis Ayres of Salisbury; one brother, Sherell Blake of Delmar; three sisters, Charlotte Ayres-Haley of Rectortown, Va., Marchelle Smith of Salisbury, and Teresa Ayres of Snow Hill; his companion, Tina Lovett of Salisbury; the mother of his daughter, Brenda McCabe of Snow Hill; five uncles; seven aunts; and several nephews and nieces. A funeral service was held Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Snow Hill. Interment will follow at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery in Snow Hill. Arrangements are in the care of the Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
