Arlene Carol Pruitt Dize

Arlene Carol Pruitt Dize, 49

ONANCOCK, Va. - Arlene Carol Pruitt Dize, 49, formerly of Tangier Island, passed away at her residence on March 1, 2008.

Born on Sept. 9, 1958 in Crisfield, she was the daughter of the late Alonza Moore Pruitt and Edna Starr Pruitt. Arlene was a hairstylist, member of Onancock Baptist Church and active in AA.

Survivors include a son, Alonza James Dize and his wife Jodi of Pensacola, Fla.; three sisters, Crystal Rosetta of Norfolk, Dorothea Pruitt of Tangier and Sylvia Pruitt of Onancock; a brother, Weldon Pruitt of Tangier; two grandchildren, Alonza James Dize, Jr. and Elise Starr Dize; six nieces and nephews; her step-father, Elwood Pruitt of Tangier; loving companion, Van Marsh; and friends Mike and Kailey Allard, with whom she lived.

Funeral services were held at Onancock Baptist Church on March 5 with the Rev. Sean McKenzie officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Onancock Baptist Church, P.O. Box 36, Onancock, Va., 23417. Arrangements were by the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home.
