FBN--CHIEFS-RICE

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice: 30 days in a Texas jail a ‘learning experience’ after probation violation

SUMMARY: Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has described his 30 days spent in a Texas jail as a “learning experience” and a “reality check.” He was jailed in May for violating probation related to a car crash. Rice spent his time rehabbing from knee surgery and watching comedian Kevin Hart on TV to stay positive. He was released in June and resumed training with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who also was coming back from knee surgery. Rice has been productive when available, but injuries and suspensions have limited his play. He’s entering the final year of his rookie contract and has much to prove this season.

US--SPEED RECORD-SALT FLATS

Britain’s Andy Green sets another speed record, this time for fastest run in a hydrogen-powered car

SUMMARY: The only person to break the sound barrier in a car has earned another world record, this time in a show of force for hydrogen power. British driver Andy Green reached 406.320 mph in a car powered by two hydrogen internal combustion engines, setting the record for that vehicle category, according to the international governing body of motor sports. The 64-year-old retired Royal Air Force pilot rocketed across the crystalline crust at Utah’s famous Bonneville Salt Flats in a car engineered by British construction equipment manufacturer JCB. Tuesday’s feat didn’t come close to approaching his overall land-speed record of 763 mph, which he set in 1997 in a car powered by jet engines and which caused sonic booms.

GLF--ON THE FRINGE-LIV

LIV players returning to PGA Tour has been a trickle. The tour might need to plan for more

SUMMARY: The idea was that players who chased Saudi money would not be seen again on the PGA Tour. Brooks Koepka is back on the PGA Tour. Patrick Reed will be next. There could be as many as three other ex-LIV golfers who get on the PGA Tour through the European tour points list. It’s been a trickle. The PGA Tour might need to plan for more depending on how LIV Golf can survive without Saudi money. The big names are Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm. DeChambeau believes he should be able to play both because he thinks everyone wants to see him.

BKL--SKY-CARRINGTON-EJECTION

Sky’s Carrington says she never claimed that the Flagrant 2 foul on her was white privilege

SUMMARY: DiJonai Carrington of the Chicago Sky says she never claimed that the assessment of a Flagrant 2 foul on her on Saturday in a game against Indiana was the result of white privilege. Carrington came from behind and hit the Fever’s Sophie Cunningham in the head and neck on a fast-break layup. The first-quarter play was reviewed and upgraded to a Flagrant 2. Carrington is Black and Cunningham is white. After Carrington was ejected, she posted “WHITE PRIVILEGE” on social media and tagged the Fever. Responding to a clip of former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho criticizing her reaction, Carrington posted on X that she “never once claimed that the assessment of the foul was white privilege.”

BBO--RED SOX-STRANGE RUN

Red Sox score bizarre run on sacrifice fly without tagging up from 3rd base

SUMMARY: Anthony Seigler scored from third base on a sacrifice fly by the Boston Red Sox — without ever tagging up. Needless to say, that left everyone in Toronto a little confused Monday night. Seigler scored a bizarre run for Boston in a 2-1 loss to the Blue Jays on a chaotic, inning-ending double play that resulted in a 17-minute delay as umpires sorted out the whole thing.

BBO--DODGERS-SKUBAL’S HOME DEBUT

Tarik Skubal struggles with control but bounces back and has ‘a ton of fun’ in Dodgers home debut

SUMMARY: Although Tarik Skubal didn’t meet his own high standards for execution in his first home start for the Los Angeles Dodgers, he was proud that he fought to keep his team in a game it eventually managed to win after he left. Skubal still intends to be better than he was while allowing three runs on four hits over five innings in the Dodgers’ 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Skubal left trailing 3-2 in the back-to-back Cy Young Award winner’s decent, if unspectacular, first start in the home whites. His fastball command was decidedly lacking.
