Jury set to begin deliberating in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sex trafficking trial. Here's what to know

NEW YORK (AP) — Jurors are set to begin deliberations in the sex trafficking and racketeering trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs. A federal judge in New York City is expected to instruct jurors Monday morning before sending them off to decide the music mogul's fate. During the seven-week trial, jurors heard from 34 witnesses. They included two of Combs' former girlfriends, who said they felt coerced by Combs into participating in drug-fueled sex with paid male sex workers. The three-time Grammy winner has pleaded not guilty to five felony charges. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to life in prison.

Fans criticize Beyoncé for shirt calling Native Americans 'the enemies of peace'

A T-shirt worn by Beyoncé during a Juneteenth performance on her Cowboy Carter tour has caused a wave of criticism for the Houston-born pop star. The T-shirt worn during a concert in Paris featured images of the Buffalo Soldiers, who belonged to Black U.S. Army units active during the late 1800s and early 1900s. On the back was a lengthy description of the soldiers that included “their antagonists were the enemies of peace, order and settlement: warring Indians, bandits, cattle thieves, murderous gunmen, bootleggers, trespassers, and Mexican revolutionaries.” Several Native influencers, performers, and academics took to social media this week to criticize Beyoncé or call the language on her shirt anti-Indigenous.

David Koepp is Hollywood's go-to scribe. He's back with a fresh start for 'Jurassic World Rebirth'

NEW YORK (AP) — In the 32 years since penning “Jurassic Park,” David Koepp has established himself as one of Hollywood’s top screenwriters not through the boundlessness of his imagination but by his expertise in limiting it. Koepp is the master of the “bottle” movie — films hemmed in by a single location or condensed timed frame. From David Fincher’s “Panic Room” to Steven Soderbergh’s “Presence," he excels at corralling stories into uncluttered, headlong movie narratives. Koepp can write anything, as long as there are parameters. “Jurassic World Rebirth” is a fresh start for one of Hollywood’s biggest multi-billion-dollar franchises. But just as he did 32 years ago, Steven Spielberg turned to Koepp to write it.

Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet, French cinema power couple, call it quits

PARIS (AP) — Oscar winner Marion Cotillard and actor-director Guillaume Canet have announced their separation after 18 years and two children together, breaking up a power relationship of French cinema. Cotillard won an Academy Award in 2008 for her performance as the legendary French singer Edith Piaf in “La Vie en Rose.” Canet has acting, directing and screenplay credits and played in “The Beach” with Leonardo DiCaprio. They starred together in the French-Belgian film “Love Me If You Dare” in 2003 and began dating in 2007. They announced their separation in a statement to the Agence France-Presse news agency that said they made the split public “to avoid all speculation, rumors and risky interpretations.”

Music Review: Lorde enters 'Virgin' territory on her liberated, physical pop album

NEW YORK (AP) — Fans of the New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde have long commended the artist for her visceral pop craft. To them, her music sounds like freedom. On her new album, “Virgin,” it is as if Lorde is able to hear that freedom, too, writes The Associated Press music writer Maria Sherman in her review. “Virgin” is Lorde’s first studio album in four years. She’s now writing pop hits devoid of any anxious filtering. Musically, “Virgin” threads the needle from her 2017 synth-pop album “Melodrama” to the current moment. And thematically, Lorde’s never been more fluid and feral than on “Virgin,” in her descriptions of gender experience and sexual autonomy.

Kenzo brings mischief back to Paris' iconic Maxim’s with a riot of color and clash

PARIS (AP) — Few Paris addresses conjure myth quite like Maxim’s, the gilded Belle Époque haunt where artists and aristocrats once jostled for a seat at dinner, and a place immortalized in Cole Porter’s lyrics and classic Hollywood films as the very symbol of Parisian chic. On Friday night, at Paris Fashion Week the legendary restaurant-turned-nightclub became the improbable stage for Kenzo’s latest co-ed show — a riot of pop color, celebrity and cultural collision served tableside.Guests perched around white tablecloths as Nigo, the first Japanese designer to helm Kenzo since the late, great Kenzo Takada, set out to prove the house can still surprise.

Music history is littered with projects planned, anticipated, even completed — and then scrapped

NEW YORK (AP) — Bruce Springsteen isn't the only musician to complete or launch anticipated album projects, then to see it never see the light of day. Springsteen is releasing the “Tracks II: The Lost Albums” box set with reams of so-called lost music on Friday. There are many reasons for albums to be abandoned. Those include perfectionist or easily distracted artists, nervous record executives, and sometimes material that is literally lost. Dr. Dre, the Beach Boys, Prince, Green Day, Neil Young and others all had their stories. But as Springsteen notes in explaining while one of discs was dropped: “I always put them away, but I don't throw them away.”

What to Stream: 'The Bear,' Lorde, 'Smoke,' 'A Minecraft Movie,' 'Nosferatu' and Nelly and Ashanti

The Jack Black-led movie phenomenon “A Minecraft Movie” and Lorde’s fourth studio album, “Virgin,” are some of the new television, films, music and games headed to a device near you. Also among the streaming offerings worth your time for the week of June 23 as selected by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists: All 10 episodes of season four of FX’s “The Bear” drop Wednesday, music stars Nelly and Ashanti are the subject of their own reality show and Bill Skarsgård leads an update of the 1922 silent vampire classic “Nosferatu.”

How do you make a 'Jurassic World' movie? With these 'commandments'

NEW YORK (AP) — If you’re going to let dinosaurs run amok, it’s good to have some ground rules. That’s how screenwriter David Koepp saw it, anyway, in penning the script for “Jurassic World Rebirth,” which opens in theaters July 2. Koepp wrote the original “Jurassic Park and its sequel, “The Lost World,” but “Rebirth,” the seventh film in the franchise, marks his return to the franchise he helped birth. And Koepp saw it as a chance to get a few things in order for a movie series that had perhaps strayed too far from some foundational. Inspired by animator Chuck Jones, Koepp decided to put down a list of nine commandments to guide “Jurassic World Rebirth” and future installments.
