HURLOCK - On Tuesday, April 3, 2007, Annie Elizabeth Murray, 73, passed away at the Memorial Hospital at Easton.

She was born Jan. 22, 1934, to the late Charles W. Thomas and Maria E. Parker Thomas in Rhodesdale in Dorchester County.

She was educated in Dorchester public schools and graduated from Mace"s Lane High School with the class of 1952. She spent all her life in Dorchester County.

Mrs. Murray was married to George A. Murray Jr. on Jan. 1, 1969, and to this union one daughter, Yolanda Kelly, was born.

Mrs. Murray was employed at Harper and Bateman Pickle Co. and retired from Coldwater Seafood in 1996 after many years of working there.

She joined the church at an early age under the pastoral leadership of the Rev. Richardson.

She was the vice president of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Emergency Fund, a member of the Mass Choir and a member of the Mary Jane Henry Chapter 54 OES (PHA), where she held many positions. She attended the Hurlock Senior Center, where she enjoyed spending time with friends, making crafts, doing ceramics and working on the computer.

Mrs. Murray is survived by one son, Larry (Denise) Aldridge Sr. of Hurlock; one daughter, Yolanda (Gregory) Kelly of Newark, Del.; three grandsons, Larry (Karen) Aldridge Jr., Ian Aldridge both of Salisbury and Kyler Murray of Newark; two sisters, Vietta Allen, Velma (Elijah) Gibbs of Hurlock; two brothers, Henry Thomas of Hurlock, Vincent (Mildred) Thomas of Odenton; five sisters-in-law, Anna Thomas of Federalsburg, Lula Washington of Worton, Belea (Gregory) Brockman of Phoenix, Ariz., Mildred Murray of Hurlock and Betty Murray of Bridgeville, Del; two godchildren, Deante and Lanell Cornish of Hurlock.

She also is survived by six stepchildren, Edith (William) Cornish, Bernadette and Ethel Murray, Larry Murray, Jewel Camper, Rudolph Sharp and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. In addition she was an adoptive mother to many. A special niece, Carolyn Stanley helped to care for her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, as well as a brother, William Thomas; a sister, Virginia Cooper; a sister-in-law, Mary R. Thomas; a nephew, Curtis Young and two stepsons, George A. Murray III and Dwight Johns.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Hurlock United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery in Hurlock.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church and during the hour preceding the service on Monday.

Arrangements are being handled by the Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Hurlock.
