Annabelle Hurley
CAMBRIDGE – Annabelle Hurley, 80, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 at Mallard Bay Care Center.
She was born at Toddville on July 29, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Herbert and Hazel Moore.
As a young child she moved, along with her family, from Toddville to Cambridge. Mrs. Hurley graduated with the class of 1944 from Cambridge High School. Throughout her working career she was employed at the Rob Roy Company in Cambridge; the Eastern Shore Hospital Center's Dietary Program and she retired with 21 years of service from the Dorchester County Board of Education's Food Service program as cafeteria manger at Mace's Lane Middle School.
Mrs. Hurley loved her family, taking care of children and doing laundry. Bingo and the slots were her favorite pastimes.
She was a member of the ladies auxiliary at the American Legion Post 91, Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW and the Cambridge Moose Lodge.
She is survived by her companion, John Bechtold of Cambridge; a son, Mark Hurley and his wife, Debbie of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Jessica and Samantha Hurley, both of Houston, Texas; a sister, Wanda Foxwell of Salisbury; a brother, Herbert Moore and wife, Frances of Cambridge; several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Lowe and two brother-in-laws, Phillip Lowe and Wallace Foxwell.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Dave Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Gary Foxwell, Ricky Moore, Jim Hogan, Ronald Bennett, Melvin Bramble and Carson Windsor.
