EASTON - Ann Harrington Sturgis, formerly of Cambridge, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at The Pines, Easton.

Born on Feb. 22, 1931, in Cambridge, Dorchester County, she was the daughter of the late Emerson C. Harrington Jr. and Winifred Davis Harrington and granddaughter of the late Maryland Governor Emerson C. Harrington Sr. and Gertrude Harrington.

She was a graduate of Cambridge High School and the University of Maryland.

Mrs. Sturgis was an elementary school teacher and worked for Dorchester County from 1966 to 1986. Five years prior to that time she had worked for Prince George's County.

She was married to Jack Sturgis in 1993. He passed away in 1998.

Mrs. Sturgis was a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church, Cambridge. She enjoyed her profession and being with her family.

Surviving is her daughter, Kim Cohee, by the union of her first marriage to Charles William Stallings; son-in-law, Stewart Cohee of Preston; a grandson, Benjamin Cohee, also Preston; two stepchildren, Shane Cohee of Preston and Seth Cohee of Denton; a niece, Winnie Sewell of Annapolis; a nephew, Edward Nabb Jr. and his wife, Betty of Cambridge and a great-niece, Meredith Nabb of Annapolis, and cousins.

Preceding her in death besides her parents, grandparents and husband was her sister, Winifred Nabb.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday at Christ Episcopal Church, Church and High streets, Cambridge. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Michael D. Reddig, rector. Burial will follow in the adjoining graveyard.

Pallbearers will be Edward Nabb Jr., Jay Harrington, Hubert Wright IV, Bill Harrington, Andrew Harrington and Benjamin Cohee.

As a retired educator, Mrs. Sturgis' request was to have expressions of sympathy made in lieu of flowers to assist children in education to The Judy Hoyer Center, 1405 Glasgow St., Cambridge, MD 21613.
