Andrew Craig Conner
A memorial celebrating the life of Craig Conner will be held in the Chesapeake Room of The J. Millard Tawes Historical Museum at 3 Ninth Street, Crisfield MD, at 3:00 to 5:00 pm on March 22, 2024.
Andrew Craig Conner passed at his home in Richmond, VA of natural causes on July 7, 2023. Craig was born on September 11, 1948, to Stanley F. and Janie Lee Coons Conner in Marion Station, MD. After graduating from Marion High School in 1966, he went on to learn the techniques of dental laboratory technology in Washington DC where he earned honors for his work and was elected vice president of his class.
He chose instead, however, to become a Radiologic Technologist. He then graduated from Peninsula General Hospital School of Radiology Technology in 1973 and joined the staff of St. Mary's Hospital Radiology department in Richmond, Virginia. He also worked in the same capacity at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield, MD for a short time thereafter, but he returned to the Richmond area and made his career at the VA Medical Center in both Radiology and the Prosthetic Services.
He was a dedicated prosthetist to veterans and was awarded for his "Superior Performance" by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in 1996. He was justly proud of the support he was able to provide our vets and was known for his empathy with them.
Craig was predeceased by both parents; and his brother, Stanley L. Conner. He is survived by his brother, Patrick W. Conner; and by his niece, Noël Conner Marshall; and his nephews, Brent Conner and Nathan Conner and by their partners; and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Craig is also survived by Donna Sanford of Richmond who has been his constant and loving companion for the past twenty-three years. Donald Graham, his neighbor, was his oldest Richmond ally and friend. Craig Hughes of Ocean View, DE was his good friend whom he met during their Radiology training in Salisbury, MD in 1971. All four continued to keep in close touch over the years.
