Alvin E. Goddard, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.), age 99 of Tequesta, Florida, went to join his wife, June C. Goddard, at his heavenly home on August 9, 2022.
Alvin grew up in Manasquan, New Jersey, and worked at F.W. Woolworth Co. Stores until enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. Alvin attended Michigan State College as an aviation cadet student in 1943. After a year of pilot training in 1944, he received his pilot wings and entered into flight instructor training. Alvin was a true hero, who served his country from December 1942 through his retirement in November 1971. During his time in service, Alvin flew 25 different type of aircraft and encountered three different wars. Alvin received many decorations, medals, and citations for his time in military service, including the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Distinguished Fly Cross, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, a USAF Commendation medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, and a bronze star. After 30 years in service, Alvin retired with the distinguished rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Alvin was not only a dedicated a military man but he was also a devoted spouse. Together Alvin and June lived in 17 different locations in the U.S. and Pacific.
Alvin is survived by those who loved and cared for him, Jessica Arasz Barber and Mary Grace Faminial.
There was a Cryptside service for Alvin on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta.
