CAMBRIDGE — Sylvia Byerly, Owner of Shining Light Acupuncture, will address the Feb. 2 meeting of the Cambridge Woman’s Club at 1 p.m. Her talk, “Life Happens – From Flight Attendant to Acupuncturist,” will follow a board meeting at 11 a.m., a membership meeting at noon, and refreshments at noon. The Woman’s Club meets at 417 High St. and the public is invited.

Ms. Byerly was born near Vienna, Austria. After graduating High School, she came to the United States to pursue a degree in Secondary Education from the University of Maryland. She met a man from the Eastern Shore, married, and settled in Maryland.

In order to stay connected to her family in Austria, she declined several teaching positions, and became a flight attendant with Pan American Airways. This provided the opportunity for frequent visits to home.

Life was good, until Sylvia was in an in-flight accident and was no longer able to fly. This life changing event compelled Sylvia to seek a new career. The search led her to finding her passion, acupuncture.

Sylvia earned her master degree in acupuncture and now runs her own clinic in Grasonville. Acupuncture gave Sylvia a new start in life, and now she loves helping people live their lives more fully.
