New vendors coming to

DCA Showcase on Sept. 25

DCA is pleased to welcome new vendors to this year’s Dorchester Center for the Arts Showcase. First-time artist presenters bring added excitement to the event, which is celebrating its 40th year in 2016.

• Christine Williams: Fiber Art - Christine is a hand knitter who specializes in baby clothing from newborn to 2 years old. She also has a collection of children hats that she designed. For adults Christine makes hats, berets, fingerless mittens, yoga socks and one of a kind winter scarves. For children she uses acrylics exclusively for easy care and laundering. For adults she uses natural fibers like washable wool, wool, silk, alpaca and cashmere.

• Ron Michaels: Photography - Ron is an award-winning Eastern Shore photographer from Ocean City, Maryland. He specializes in memorable photographs of the wild ponies’ native to Assateague Island and Chincoteague, Va. Along with wild ponies, Ron captures the natural beauty of herons, egrets, and ocean side seascapes. He also enjoys photographing historic towns, buildings, and barns in addition to waterman and their boats.

• Harry Dill – Tranquility Gardens - Tranquility Gardens hails from Rehoboth Beach, DE and is the business of Harry and Roberta Dill. Harry uses driftwood and other reclaimed wood as the basis for his work, and then enhances features in the wood by carving the heads of birds, animals and marine life.

DCA is still accepting applications from artists for vendor space at Showcase. Booth spaces will be awarded to only those vendors offering 100 percent artisan crafted domestic made goods. New vendors are required to submit three photographs of their work with the application. Booth spaces are 10’ x 10’ and the cost is $75. Each vendor will be asked to donate one item for a raffle to benefit DCA.

In other news, Horn Point Lab returns this year, and will host a display table featuring copepods (plankton you can see with your naked eye!) along with kid friendly activities.

For more information, contact Barb Seese, showcase coordinator 410-228-7782 or e-mail bjseese@dorchesterarts.org.
