CAMBRIDGE — On Jan. 31, students from the Mace’s Lane Middle School Band traveled to Mardela Middle and High School to audition for this year’s All-Shore Junior Band. Students who auditioned had to prepare several memorized scales and a challenging solo for their instrument, and were tested on their sight reading skills.
On Feb. 1, students from the Mace’s Lane Middle School Chorus traveled to North Dorchester Middle School to audition for this year’s All-Shore Junior Chorus. Students who auditioned had to learn and perform an A Cappella piece, an accompanied piece, and demonstrate their melodic and rhythmic sight reading skills.
Congratulations to talented 8th Grader Laura Dixon for her successful auditions where she was selected to participate in both ensembles! She will represent Mace’s Lane Middle School and join her North Dorchester Middle School peers as she performs in the percussion section with the All-Shore Junior Band and sings soprano in the All-Shore Junior Chorus.
The All-Shore Band Concert was held on April 11, at Easton High School and the All-Shore Junior Chorus Concert will be held this Friday at Wicomico High School.
