John Martin (“Pappy”), 86

Posted

John Martin (“Pappy”) departed the sea of life on September 16, 2026. He had Alzheimer’s. A fall and head injury brought him to Delaware Hospice in Milford, where he passed in peace and comfort.
Born December 31, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland, he attended Baltimore Polytechnical Institute and University of Baltimore. He served as a thirdclass petty officer in the US Navy, and was stationed in Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from Baltimore  Gas and Electric (now Constellation Energy) after 30 years of service, beginning as a meter reader and progressing to Supervisor. He then worked as part-time Dockmaster at MEBA Engineering School in Easton. He was an avid fisherman  boater, woodworker, and animal lover.
Being aboard his life ship was never boring. This part-time captain was also a gentleman farmer, a lover of loud 50’s music, a practical joker, and a look alike and avid fan of Elvis and John Wayne.
He is survived by his wife, Lennie Martin, a sister, a brother, a cherished ex-wife and his large blended family of 8 children (one deceased), 20 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life for family will be held around the holidays.
