Athlete of the Week: Alexander McEvoy

Posted

Caesar Rodney High wrestler Alexander McEvoy was voted tis week’s Athlete of the Week after recording pins in two big matches for the Riders last week. The junior 106-pounder won by a third-period fall to seal CR’s win 34-23 win over Smyrna before his pin helped CR stay close with Salesianum in a 34-30 loss.
McEvoy is currently 23-5 this season and has won individual titles at both the Milford and Joe Verciglio Invitationals.
“Alex has really stepped his game up this season,” said CR coach Dan Rigby. “I challenged him to never be outworked and he has willingly taken that task on. He is one of those guys that when you say something as a coach, you know it’s going to be done right away and with 100-percent accuracy. He has come such a long way in a short period of time and is an absolute pleasure to coach.”
