MIDDLETOWN — Lane closures along Reedy Point Bridge will begin around May 28, the Department of Transportation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced Monday.
The closures are expected to last through mid-August, as the Army Corps’ contractor conducts repairs to the bridge piers and miscellaneous steel structures.
The purpose is to improve the overall condition and safety of the span.
The bridge will be restricted to one lane, allowing traffic to continue in both directions using temporary traffic signals continuously during the construction.
The Reedy Point Bridge is a cantilever truss bridge that carries two lanes of Del. 9 over the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal.
