NWS: Delaware to see respite from heat, then return next week

Posted

MIDDLETOWN — For a short respite at least, Wednesday was the last day for “heat headlines” in Delaware.

That’s the way National Weather Service meteorologist Eric Hoeflich spoke of the upcoming temperature drop in what’s been a sweltering stretch.

“We won’t need heat warnings or heat advisories Thursday, Friday or Saturday and most likely not on Sunday,” Mr. Hoeflich said.

While a high of near 93 degrees was forecast for Dover Wednesday, Thursday was predicted to reach only 90.

Rain is forecast to perhaps accompany the 84-degree high on Friday, followed by a high of 88 degrees Saturday and 91 Sunday.

The heat wave is set to intensify next week, with highs of near 95 on Monday and 97 Tuesday. The National Weather Service forecast similar conditions throughout Delaware.
