Numerous vehicles damaged by fire in Apple-Scrapple parking area

BRIDGEVILLE – More than a dozen vehicles were damaged Saturday afternoon by fire that spread in the parking area utilized for the Apple-Scrapple Festival.

The fire was reported shortly after 3 p.m. in the 18000 block of Wesley Church Road, Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal John Galaska said.

Upon arrival, Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company and assisting mutual aid fire companies found multiple vehicles on fire.

Initial investigation by the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal determined that the fire originated at a single vehicle and spread, causing damage to 13 other vehicles, Mr. Galaska said.

There is currently no indication of criminal activity involving the fire, Mr. Galaska said.

Damage to vehicles ranges from minor to severe. The total estimated damage is $300,000. 

There were no reported injuries.

The fire remains under investigation.
