Police: Three found dead in Magnolia shooting

Posted

MAGNOLIA — Three people were found dead after a shooting in the 100 block of Cilento Drive on Monday.

Delaware State Police said, at approximately 6:18 p.m., troopers were dispatched following reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they discovered a 38-year-old Magnolia woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the front yard of a home. Troopers attempted lifesaving measures, but the woman succumbed to her injuries.

Subsequently, the state police Special Operations Response Team entered the residence, where officers found a 43-year-old Magnolia man, also fatally wounded by gunfire, authorities said.

The suspect in those shootings, a 49-year-old Magnolia man, was also found deceased in the residence with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police stated.

Three unharmed children were also located in the house.

The identities of the victims are being withheld until their families are notified.

Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect contacted a family member, confessed to shooting his wife and her boyfriend, then expressed an intent to kill himself, troopers said.

The investigation continues, and police ask anyone with information to contact Detective M. Csapo at 302-741-2729, send a message via the state police Facebook page or contact Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333.
