Person found dead in Newark vehicle fire

NEWARK — An individual was found dead after a car fire was extinguished at a Newark apartment complex Wednesday, the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office said.

Spokesman Michael Chionchio said authorities are investigating the blaze at the Rockwood Apartments, which the Christiana Fire Co. responded to around 10 a.m.

He said investigators are searching for the cause. The victim was transferred to the Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy and positive identification.

Mr. Chionchio said damage is estimated to be $10,000 and that there were no additional injuries or structural damage to any residences.
