Heritage Area Hosts Public Art Workshop

The Beach to Bay Heritage Area is hosting a Public Art workshop on Wednesday, June 22, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Revival venue and event space in Downtown Salisbury.

This is a Lunch and Learn format so attendees can bring their own lunch while listening to our dynamic speakers.

The workshop is being led by Jamie Heater, Executive Director, Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District and Amanda Fenstermaker, longtime Tourism Director of Dorchester County. The workshop will explore why public art equals economic development, how it tells a story and brings visitors to our downtowns.

According to Americans for the Arts, art in public spaces plays a distinguishing role in our country’s history and culture. It reflects and reveals our society, enhances meaning in our civic spaces, and adds uniqueness to our communities. Public art humanizes the built environment. It provides an intersection between past, present, and future; between disciplines and ideas. Public art matters because our communities gain cultural, social, and economic value through public art.

The Beach to Bay Heritage Area is a tri-county, nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote, preserve and protect the cultural heritage, historical linkages and natural assets of Maryland’s lower eastern shore.  The workshop is the third in a series that is supported by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information and to reserve a seat, please email info@beachesbayswaterways.org
