Main Street Gym to host bouts March 5

Boxers from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington, D.C., will converge on Salisbury, Saturday, March 5, for a boxing event at Main Street Gym off Northwood Drive.

Called the East Coast Championship "Battle for the Belt,” the full fight card will include some of the top boxers in the nation, as well as world champions. Local boxers include Erick Acosta, Main Street Gym’s star, who intends to turn professional.

Also appearing will be Anthony Drummond, Cater Harris, Bryant Clark, Zion Fuller, Jeremiah Lyons and Zack Mitchell. Music will be provided by “That DJ Guy”; food will be provided by East Town Eats.

Doors open at 6 p.m.; start time is 7 p.m.. A table with eight seats is $400. General admission is $25; $15 for those 12 and under.

WSW will host Bingo event March 10

Women Supporting Women will host its 20th annual Pink Ribbon Bingo at the Willards Lion Club on Thursday, March 10.

Avid bingo players and beginners are encouraged to attend this event where they can win prizes from the Pampered Chef, Thirty-One, as well as cash prizes.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and games begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are available now on WSW's Eventbrite page or at the office.

Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door.

Food and Beverages will be available for purchase and there will be a 50/50 raffle included throughout the night.

‘Bad River’ coming to Revival

 "Bad River" with Paul Cullen from Bad Co. and Tony Sciuto of The Little River Band will appear for a night of Bad Company and Little River Band songs at Revival, on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m.

Cullen, a professional musician for more than 30 years, has released five solo CDs with the Latin-jazzy feel that pairs perfectly with any wine in your glass. Since his first release “Dreamdance,” he has played over 3,000 performances.

Sciuto joined Little River Band as a member and their Pianist from 1990-97, and also performed with PLAYER in 1998-2001.

Virtual poetry reading to be held March 24

 Wor-Wic Community College invites the public to a free virtual reading with Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon on Thursday, March 24, at 7 p.m., via Zoom.

Muldoon has been described by “The Times Literary Supplement” as “the most significant English-language poet born since the second World War.” The recipient of dozens of awards, including the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, he is the author of fourteen full-length collections of poetry, the most recent of which is “Howdie-Skelp.” Muldoon served as professor of poetry at the University of Oxford from 1999-2004 and as poetry editor of “The New Yorker” from 2007-2017. He has taught at Princeton University in New Jersey since 1987.

Harlem Globetrotters coming to Salisbury

The World-Famous Harlem Globetrotters will bring their newly reimagined Spread Game tour to the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury on Monday, March 21, at 7 p.m.

The Spread Game Tour is a basketball event like no other. Ankle-breaking moves, jaw-dropping swag, and rim-rattling dunks are only some of the thrill you can expect from this fully modernized show.

Part streetball from the players who defined it, part interactive family entertainment, the new tour will show off the best of the Globetrotters in a dazzling exhibition of talent and game.

Faith Filled Women’s event is March 26

 After a two-year hiatus because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual Faith Filled Women’s Conference returns to Salisbury on Saturday, March 26.

This year marks the 10th annual event and will be held at the Wicomico Civic Center.

The conference theme is “Simply Celebrate'' and features keynote speaker Sandra Stanley, author of the devotional book “Breathing Room.”
