The more than 100-year old Rotary Club of Salisbury has presented its highest honor to Bryan Murfree, President/CEO/Owner of Telewire Inc. in Salisbury.

The Four-Way Test Award recognizes non-Rotarians for their exceptional community and volunteer service and who, in their everyday lives, are living examples of the Rotary Motto: “Service Above Self.”

Nominees are judged upon their living up to the Rotary Four-Way Test of the things they think, say, or do: “Is it the Truth,” “Is it Fair to all Concerned,” “Does it Build Goodwill and Better Friendships,” and “Is it Beneficial to All Concerned.”

Murfree was celebrated in an awards ceremony held last Thursday.

Murfree’s list of community activities is extensive. He is a lifelong member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Salisbury.

He has been involved with the Boy Scouts for more than 25 years. For the past 10 years, he has served as chairman of the Board of Directors of The Christian Shelter.

He has been involved with the Salisbury-based Project O.U.T. that developed a process called Cause IQ that provides web-based information and tools to help nonprofits and other small businesses grow, maintain, and serve their nonprofit clients.

Murfree is a trained IPPS Mentor (Increasing Personal Power & Success) in a program at the Eastern Correctional Institute to help inmates find their way to a better life. He has been involved with the Greater Salisbury Committee and the GSC Foundation.

The Rotary Club of Salisbury recognized Murfree for dedicating his entire adult life to helping people.  In the nomination form, the club member who nominated him wrote: “I personally do not know a more humble person that is more dedicated to helping others than Bryan and I recommend him as a Four Way Test recipient.”
