Letter to the Editor: Do the ‘write’ thing on I Love to Write Day

Posted

Today, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of I Love to Write Day, a grassroots campaign I launched in 2002 to have people of all ages spend time writing every Nov. 15.

Over the years, there have been numerous success stories from the thousands of people who have participated in I Love to Write Day events and activities.

The governors of nine states (including Delaware) have officially proclaimed Nov. 15 as I Love to Write Day and urge their residents to celebrate the day by writing. I Love to Write Day was officially entered into the congressional record in 2008 by U.S. Sen. Tom Carper of Delaware.

My goal for I Love to Write Day remains the same as it did the day I launched it. People of all ages are encouraged to write something: a poem, a love letter, an essay, start a novel, finish a novel. The possibilities are endless!

When people become stronger writers, they become better communicators, and everyone wins.
