Our business and school communities are about to embark on a project created by #kindSBY that will bring smiles to all our faces.

Our main objective is to raise everyone’s morale as we reinforce the power of kindness.

The challenges our educators have faced and may face during the ongoing pandemic are severe. We hear on the news about families and businesses suffering as well, with the uncertainties, losses of employment, illness, and personal loss.  Many of us are feeling these struggles, and it is time for some sunshine.

Your #kindSBY Kindness Commissioners are launching a plan called “Adopt-a-School Morale Boosting Program.”

Here’s how it works:

1. Local businesses will be invited to “Adopt-a-School” from the 26 public schools in Wicomico County. The business will then receive a digital information packet from Grace Foxwell Murdock, Salisbury’s Secretary of Kindness and lead Kindness Commissioner.

2. Beginning in October, a business that adopts a school will fulfill one activity from a choice of seven activities for the school.  Information for all the activities is outlined in the info packet for the companies, with links to order or buy locally all items needed. Companies will deliver three more motivational activities in January, March, and May for a total of four projects for the 2021-2022 school year.

3. All preparations, finished products, and deliveries must be documented with pictures and posted on social media for the company employees, the school staffs, and the public to enjoy. Everyone is asked to use #kindSBY in every media post, please.

We benefit from kindness in three ways through giving it, receiving it, and witnessing it.  This is why #kindSBY is convinced this program will bring some sunshine to all who create the sunshine, receive the sunshine, and read about the sunshine.  This program can raise the kindness climate for the businesses, the schools, and our community. That’s the “Win! Win! Win!”
