Five reasons to register for one of Wicomico’s summer sports camps

Posted

Do you have a baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer or volleyball player at home who wants to work on their skills? Wicomico County Recreation & Parks offers seven sports camps this summer for kids of all skill levels.

There are plenty of reasons to sign your child up for a sports camp this summer, but here are five:

  1.   Try something new. We’re offering three new camps this year: Wicomico Youth Flag Football Summer Camp, Shore Soccer Summer Camp and Shore Baseball Summer Camp.
  2.   Become a better player. Each camp focuses on a particular sport and provides a great opportunity to improve upon skills, work on drills and gain helpful tips.
  3.   Learn from legends. At the WYBL Presents Andre Collins Skills Camp, young players will learn from Andre Collins, one of the most decorated basketball talents the Eastern Shore has produced. Butch Waller, who has been Wicomico High School’s boys’ basketball coach for more than 50 years, heads up the WYBL Presents Shore Hoops Summer Camp.

During Shore Baseball Summer Camp, kids will learn about the sport from University of Maryland Eastern Shore staff and players.

  1.   Make friends. Form friendships with other kids who have the same interests.
  2.   Have fun. Along with community, sportsmanship and skill development, having fun is one of our Youth Sports Core Values, and of course, it’s important to enjoy the game.
