DOVER — Of Delaware’s COVID-19 hospitalizations for the week of Sept. 6 to Sept. 12, 78% were not fully vaccinated, according to the Delaware Division of Public Health.

In that time frame, the most recent available dataset, there were 132 new hospitalizations and 103 were not fully vaccinated. For new cases during the same week, 2421 of 3192 (76%) were not fully vaccinated.

Delaware has recorded a total of 2,900 breakthrough cases — a positive test for COVID-19 after an individual has been fully vaccinated for two weeks or more. This total represents less than 0.6% of Delawareans who have been fully vaccinated.

There were 594 new positive cases announced by DPH on Saturday, bringing the state’s total to 127,803. Hospitalizations dropped by 14 compared to the day prior, decreasing to 245.

Seven new COVID-19-related deaths were reported on Saturday. Five were unvaccinated while two were vaccinated, according to DPH.

None of the seven were residents of a long-term care center. Three were from New Castle County, two were from Kent County and two were from Sussex County.

The seven individuals ranged in age from 52 years old to 90 years old. It increased Delaware’s total number of COVID-19-related deaths to 1,920.
