Two arrests made, person sought following thefts

SEAFORD — Two arrests were made and a third person is sought following recent thefts from motor vehicles in western Sussex County, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

According to authorities, multiple thefts occurred between July 7 and Tuesday in the Clearbrooke Estates development and Elks Road area in Seaford and the Sandy Ridge Mobile Home Park in Laurel. During the incidents, multiple items were stolen, including a bicycle, ear pods, Garmin GPS, credit/debit cards and money, police said.

Through investigation, DSP said, Amyah Deshields, 18, of Seaford, Wilbur Doughty, 32, of Seaford, and Jaquan Adkins, 30, of Millsboro, were identified as persons of interest in the thefts in Clearbrooke Estates and Elks Road. Police said Mr. Adkins allegedly committed thefts in the Sandy Ridge Mobile Home Park overnight Monday into Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Ms. Deshields was located by troopers at the Sunrise Motel at 22512 Sussex Highway. She was charged with identify theft, theft under $1,500, attempted theft under $1,500, third-degree conspiracy, and third-degree criminal trespass. She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $13,500 unsecured bond.

Police said Mr. Adkins was arrested on unrelated traffic charges and held at Sussex Correctional Institution. He was later charged with multiple counts of theft under $1,500 where victim is 62 years or older, theft greater than $1,500 where victim is 62 years or older, theft under $1,500, attempted theft under $1,500, third-degree conspiracy, and third-degree criminal trespass. He was arraigned in JP Court 2 and remains incarcerated at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $22,900 secured bond.

Police are still seeking Mr. Doughty, who is known to frequent the Seaford and Bridgeville areas. Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact Det. Robert Mitchell with the Troop 4 Property Crimes Unit by calling 752-3794 or dialing 911. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or online at delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.

DSP asks anyone who believes they may have been a victim in one of the theft incidents to contact Det. Mitchell.
