DOVER — Gary A. Scott, 57, of Bridgeville, was arrested by Delaware State Police in connection with a stolen motor vehicle after a traffic stop early Wednesday.

DSP spokeswoman Cpl. Amina Ali said a state trooper on patrol near the Rodney Village Shopping Center, Dover, at approximately 12:01 a.m. observed a red Pontiac Firebird with a Maryland registration that matched the description of a stolen motor vehicle. A computer inquiry confirmed the vehicle was stolen, and the trooper initiated a traffic stop.

The sole occupant of the car was identified as Mr. Scott, Cpl. Ali said. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 5, Bridgeville, where he was charged with theft of a motor vehicle.

Mr. Scott was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7, Dover, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $2,000 secured bond.
