The Selbyville Elks Lodge hosted a hoop shoot Jan. 14, during which children ages 8-13 competed by shooting free throws. There were 40 competitors participating to move on to the districtwide contest Feb. 5 at the YMCA in Rehoboth Beach. Raelyn Ireland and Tanner Jones scored the most baskets and will join Chance Megee, Marquise Blake and Athena Fleming-Lloyd in the next phase. The finals will be April 22 at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena, home of the WNBA’s Chicago Sky and DePaul University’s Blue Demons.
