Schedules set for DIAA football second-round games
DOVER — Three of the five downstate teams remaining in the DIAA football state tournaments will host second-round games next weekend.
The DIAA has established the schedule for the eight games being played in the three tourneys. The higher-seeded team hosts each contest.
In the Class 3A semifinals, top-seeded Smyrna will host No. 4 Middletown on Friday night with No. 6 Dover hosting No. 7 St. Georges on Saturday night. Both contests start at 7 p.m.
In Class 2A, No. 6 Lake Forest will play No. 3 Wilmington Friends on Friday at 1 p.m. at Abbesinio Stadium.
On Friday in Class 1A, No. 1 Laurel will host No. 5 Tatnall with No. 2 St. Elizabeth hosting No. 6 Seaford . Both gamaes start at 7 p.m.
With Class 2A having an extra week compared to other other two divisions, the state championship games won’t be played until Dec. 10 at Delaware Stadium.
