Ronald McDonald House announces dates for Delaware 5K

WILMINGTON — The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware will offer in-person events for this year’s Go the Distance Run/Walk series.

Due to the response received from last year’s race, the series will also include a virtual component so walkers and runners near and far will have the option of participating in-person or virtually.

The event series kicks off with the Wilmington race at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28 at Rockford Park in Wilmington and will conclude on Saturday, Sept. 18 with the race at Irish Eyes in Lewes, beginning at 9 a.m.

All virtual participants and teams will select their course and the day they want to run or walk (outside or on a treadmill). Virtual participants are encouraged to run or walk 3.1 miles any day(s) between Aug. 28 and Sept. 18. All participants are also encouraged to reach out to friends and family anywhere to have them join or donate to them and/or their team. Even pets can join in the fun virtually through a “Four-Legged Friend” registration option.

Details on fundraising and online activities are on the event website and social media will be a big part of the virtual race. Submitting photos and posting is encouraged.

Those that register for either race will have the opportunity to participate in the online contests and fundraising incentives. All participants will also receive an event T-shirt and “Four-Legged Friend” participants will receive an RMHDE-branded pet bandana. For more information and to register, visit online.
