Pedestrian dies in Millsboro parking lot collision

MILLSBORO - An 82-year-old Lewes man died after being struck by a vehicle while pushing a shopping cart in a parking lot Tuesday, authorities said.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:33 p.m. at the Weis grocery store at 24832 John J. Williams Highway, Delaware State Police spokesperson Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said.

Police said James Crowl was struck by a Toyota Corolla that was traveling toward him. The driver failed to see the man, police said.

Mr. Crowl was transported via ambulance to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. 

The driver of the Toyota was not injured, and no other vehicles were involved in this incident.

The Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to contact Sergeant J. Burns by calling 302-703-3269.
