MILLSBORO — No injuries were reported during a fire that damaged a single-family dwelling early Tuesday, State Fire Marshal spokesman Chief Deputy John Galaska said.

Authorities said the blaze in the 26000 block of Cove Drive in Millsboro was reported shortly after 5:30 a.m. The Indian River Fire Co. arrived on the scene and found smoke and flames coming from the structure. Several other fire companies assisted at the scene.

State fire investigators determined that the blaze was accidental and occurred when an unknown malfunction of the structure’s fixed heating system ignited nearby combustibles.

The house was occupied at the time of the fire. However, due to the home’s working smoke detectors, occupants escaped without injury, Chief Deputy Galaska said.
