MILLSBORO — A 47-year-old Millsboro man was arrested on multiple traffic, drug and weapons charges following a Friday pursuit, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Cpl. Amina Ali said.

At approximately 1:14 a.m., troopers conducting a proactive patrol in the area of John J. Williams Highway and Mount Joy Road observed a white male operating a green-camouflage all-terrain vehicle on the public roadway, Cpl. Ali said. The troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the ATV on Mount Joy Road, but the male operator refused to stop and continued onto John J. Williams Highway, police said.

While fleeing from troopers, Edward McCarron made multiple traffic violations, Cpl. Ali said. He was taken into custody after he crashed the ATV into private property in the 27000 block of Merchantman Drive. A search of Mr. McCarron led to the discovery of a white crystalline substance, which was tested and found to be 2.03 grams of methamphetamine, police said. A concealed knife was also located during the search.

A computer inquiry showed that Mr. McCarron had active warrants for operating an off-highway vehicle on a public roadway.

He was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, offenses related to operating an off-highway vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3, Georgetown, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $3,100 secured bond.
