SEAFORD — A 49-year-old Seaford resident died in a single-vehicle collision Monday afternoon, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.
Police said the driver failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed over Woodland Road, completely exited its south edge and struck a utility pole with its front end. The vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, then struck a tree and came to rest upright, authorities said.
Police said the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification is pending notification of next of kin.
Both roadways were closed for approximately four hours, while the collision was investigated and the utility pole was repaired.
The crash is being investigated by the DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit. Anyone with information should contact Detective K. Argo by calling 644-5020.
