LEWES — A 30-year-old Millsboro man was arrested during an investigation into a reported vehicle striking a parking lot barrier early Thursday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

Authorities said Andre L. Hallett was contacted as troopers arrived at the Wawa located at 176663 Dartmouth Drive at approximately 1:54 a.m. A strong odor of alcohol was detected coming from his breath, police said, and a DUI investigation ensued.

Mr. Hallett was taken into custody and transported to DSP Troop 7. Cpl. Pepper said an inventory search of the vehicle was completed before being towed, and located inside were approximately .301 grams of heroin and $40 in suspected drug proceeds. Mr. Hallett was found in possession of approximately $580 suspected drug proceeds, police said.

Mr. Hallett was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving while revoked, possession of a revoked license, and careless driving. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and released on a $7,750 unsecured bond.
