Milford City Council holds organizational meeting

MILFORD — Four councilpersons were sworn into office during the City of Milford’s annual organizational meeting held May 3.

Councilperson Daniel Marabello will represent the city’s first ward, Councilperson Todd Culotta will represent the second ward, Councilperson Douglas Morrow will represent the third ward and Vice Mayor Jason James Sr. will represent the fourth ward (he also was reappointed by the council to serve as vice mayor).

All were sworn in by the Superior Judge Noel Eason Primos in the virtual meeting held on Zoom, a video-conferencing app.

The councilpersons will retain their seats for another two-year term. All four filed for re-election earlier in the year with no challengers.

“I do want to thank everyone,” Vice Mayor James said. “I will try to do my best to serve this city well and serve all of you well.”

David Rutt also was approved by the council to continue serving as the city’s solicitor.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, the council adjourned for an executive session that lasted an hour. When the open session resumed, the council approved allowing City Manager Mark Whitfield to investigate information on real estate as discussed during the closed session.

Mayor Archie Campbell closed the meeting by extending congratulations to those who were sworn into office.

“We have a super council’,” Mayor Campbell said. “We really do.”

The next Milford meeting begins with a workshop session at 6:45 p.m. tonight. It will immediately be followed by a council meeting at 7 p.m.

Meetings are being held via Zoom until further notice. To view the meeting, visit here.
