Caesar Rodney High managed just a pair of second-quarter field goals in falling to Archmere, 28-6, in football on Saturday afternoon.

The Riders drop to 0-8 after losing their ninth game in a row since last season.

Samuel Soghomonian kicked field goals of 35 and 39 yards to leave CR trailing 14-6 at intermission. But the unbeaten Auks (7-0) scored touchdowns in each of the third and fourth quarters to close out the victory.

Four different players scored TDs for the Auks. Quarterback Chris Albero threw for a touchdown and ran 84 yards for another.

Laurel 71, First State Military 0: The Bulldogs improved to 6-1 with the Homecoming win in a District II, Class 1A contest.

Newark Charter 3, Caesar Rodney 0: The Patriots topped the Riders by scores of 25-13, 25-12, 25-22.

College volleyball

Delaware 3, Charleston 1: The Blue Hens downed the Cougars, 25-15, 25-18, 18-25, 25-20, to push its overall record to 10-10 on Saturday.

For the fifth-consecutive match, Lani Mason has led the Blue Hens (5-6 CAA) in kills, finishing with a match-high 20 to go along with five digs and an ace. Savannah Seemans followed with 14 kills and 11 digs to record her fifth double-double of the season.

Directing the Blue Hens’ offense was Ezgi Basaranlar with a match-best 45 assists to go with five kills, five digs and four block assists. Katie Turner anchored Delaware’s defense with a match-high 15 digs.
