Loaded handgun, drugs found during Millsboro stop

MILLSBORO — A 29-year-old Lewes man was arrested on multiple criminal charges after drugs and a loaded handgun were found in his vehicle during a Tuesday traffic stop, Delaware State Police said.

Cedrick Fooks also resisted arrest and injured two troopers while being taken into custody in the parking lot of DEStorage, 28862 DuPont Boulevard, according to authorities. He was originally pulled over at about 3:48 p.m. for having a suspended license and an active warrant, police said.

Upon the stop, police added, Mr. Fooks’ two young children were seen in the back seat, not properly secured in car seats.

The troopers sustained minor injuries during the incident, while Mr. Fooks was uninjured.
Inside the vehicle were 2,974 bags of heroin, a loaded 9 mm Glock 19 handgun and $3,368 in suspected drug proceeds, police said.

Among other offenses, Mr. Fooks was charged with felony resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child (two counts), criminal mischief, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (two counts), DUI of drugs and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Mr. Fooks was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3, Georgetown, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $64,200 bond.
