Letter to the Editor: Afghanistan events show Biden and his administration are ineffective at best

Posted

If I’m being as candid as possible, Joe Biden and his colleagues are ineffective and damaging to the American citizens, military members, allies and Afghans who assisted in removing the Taliban, al-Qaida and all surrounding Islamic terrorists in that region.

Yes, it was more than time to remove Americans from Afghanistan, and the Afghan people knew this. However, the departure designated by Biden and his colleagues was disastrous. Never should so much military have been removed prior to American citizens and supporting Afghan allies. What were the great minds of the Biden administration thinking, or were they thinking coherently at all of the dangerous unintended consequences that it created?

These poor judgments have damaged our credibility with American allies and reinforced adversarial nations — e.g., Russia, China, North Korea and Iran — with the faltering and complete failure of the Afghan troops who never could effectively combat the Taliban or any other enemy in Afghanistan without the brave United States military by their side. Many months ago, there were hints of the bleak fact that the Afghans would not be able to defend their country without American support. We watched this quickly develop when these same troops dropped their billions of dollars of armaments and ran. These valuable weapons are now proudly shown by the “new(?)” Taliban, who are smiling and laughing at the overall stupidity committed during this nightmare.

Of course, at his news conferences, President Biden explains that all will be well. Maybe no one shows him the frightening and stressful actions being taken by all attempting to reach the so-called safety of the Kabul airport. Everyone is at the discretion of the Taliban, as the terrified people approach dangerous checkpoints. It is like watching a repeat of Saigon (sorry, Ho Chi Minh City) in 1973. Didn’t our so-called American leadership learn anything from that history or must we relive those disastrous events? Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it. Truer words were never spoken.

The entire Biden administration has failed America. They may not see the many misjudgments that have been made by their lack of wisdom, but they all have them, from President Biden to Vice President Kamala Harris (of course, the priority for Kamala is our Southern border crisis, which is only becoming more of a domestic danger under her watchful eye) to U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin — who should have made the correct decisions for our military but did not — to all other Democratic leaders, who are totally responsible for the potential downfall of American security and superiority. Commander in Chief Biden has alienated our allies, who he erroneously assumed backed his actions, while assuring us they were agreeing with his weak guidance and leadership concerning our brave military.

America has some very hard decisions to make very soon! Do we allow this Biden world to continue or remove them all, to be replaced by citizens who are worthy of the positions now held by the ineffective talking heads?

May God always bless the United States of America!
