MILFORD — A 19-year-old Harrington man died from injuries suffered in a crash on Milford-Harrington Highway on Saturday night, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

Elijah Brown was a passenger in the front seat of a Toyota Camry that collided with the front of a 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer at approximately 9:40. The Camry’s driver, a 17-year-old Greenwood female, was attempting to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone and crossed directly into the path of the Freightliner, authorities said.

The force of the impact caused the truck to overturn, and it came to rest on its left side, in the middle of the two travel lanes. After impact, the Camry was redirected south and came to rest in a private yard south of the roadway, police said.

The driver of the Camry sustained serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to an area hospital.

Mr. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Freightliner sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

DSP said the crash remains under investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit and asked anyone with information to contact Cpl./3 W. Booth at 697-4454.
