GEORGETOWN — Motorists utilizing a major roadway east of Georgetown will have to detour through most of May due to intersection upgrades in the Georgetown East Gateway Improvements Project.
Delaware’s Department of Transportation announced that U.S. 9/East Market Street/Lewes-Georgetown Highway will be closed between Sand Hill Road and Rogers Avenue for about three weeks.
Closure — scheduled from 6 a.m. May 1 through 10 p.m. May 21, pending weather — is for the realignment of Sand Hill Road and Airport Road to intersect with U.S. 9 at an improved angle, DelDOT said.
DelDOT recommends the following detour routes:
Motorists may use either of these routes in any direction depending on their desired destination.
