Georgetown house fire causes $250K in damages

GEORGETOWN — An accidental structure fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damages Monday, the Office of the State Fire Marshal said.

Spokesman John Galaska said the blaze, in the 18000 block of Gravel Road, was caused by an unknown malfunction of an appliance. While there were no reported injuries, two dogs died as a result, he said.

The incident was reported shortly after noon, Mr. Galaska said. The Georgetown Fire Co. arrived on the scene and found smoke and flames coming from the single-family dwelling.

No one was home at the time of the blaze, and several other fire companies assisted, he said.
