SEAFORD — The city’s 2021 municipal election is April 17, with four candidates seeking the two council terms at stake.

Council incumbents Orlando Holland and James King have filed for reelection, while Jeffrey Benson Jr. and Scott Pickinpaugh also filed by the Feb. 26 deadline.

Council terms in Seaford are for three years.

Councilman Holland joined the body in 2014. Councilman King was elected in 2018.

Mr. Benson currently serves on the Seaford School District board of education, and Mr. Pickinpaugh is a member of the Seaford Planning and Zoning Commission.

Voting April 17 will be 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. at City Hall, 414 High St.

Voters must be 18, a resident of the city and a U.S. citizen. Those eligible to vote must be registered at Seaford City Hall by 5 p.m. March 26.

As a reminder, the city has independent registration procedures for the annual municipal election. To vote, you must meet the eligibility requirements and be registered on the Books of Registered Voters maintained at City Hall.

To vote, a nonresident property owner must be the owner of record for a period of six months preceding the date of the election (which would be Oct. 17, 2020), provided he or she is registered on the Books of Registered Voters.

Registration hours are Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. or by appointment.

In addition, the city is offering extended office hours to allow people the opportunity to register, March 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and March 24, 5-7 p.m., Seaford City Clerk Tracy Torbert said.

Information pertaining to the election, including a voter application and requests for absentee ballots, is available on the city's website.
