LEWES — The Huntington’s Disease Society of America's Northeast Region will host the Delaware Team Hope Walk on Oct. 16.

The event, to be held at 9 a.m., will be at Cape Henlopen State Park's main beach pavilion.

Team Hope is HDSA’s largest national grassroots fundraising event; it takes place in more than 100 cities across the U.S. and has raised more than $20 million for Huntington’s disease awareness since its inception in 2007.

Huntington’s is a brain disease that is passed down in families, with symptoms described as having Lou Gehrig's disease, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease simultaneously. Today, there are approximately 41,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at risk of inheriting the disease.
