Delaware State Police ID victim in fatal Millsboro collision

By MILLSBORO - The Delaware State Police have identified the victim who died in a fatal pedestrian collision last Friday as Karen Shiles, 62, of Georgetown.
Authorities said Ms. Shiles was struck by a vehicle while walking in the parking lot of the Back Bay Shopping Center at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Bay Farm Road. The incident occurred at approximately 12:44 p.m.
According to police, Ms. Shiles walked in front of a vehicle just as the driver began moving forward from a stop sign.
Ms. Shiles was taken to an area hospital via helicopter for serious injuries. She died from her injuries on Monday, police said.
The Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to please contact Sgt. J. Burns by calling 302-703-3269.
