Dagsboro OKs fourth full-time officer for town’s police force

DAGSBORO — Dagsboro’s governing body has granted Dagsboro Police Chief Steven Flood his manpower wish — a fourth full-time officer.

Mayor and council at a special meeting June 2 approved the hiring of Cpl. Noah Glaeser, a 16-year officer who comes to Dagsboro from the Georgetown Police Department, where he has been employed the past nine years, Chief Flood said.

His first scheduled day with Dagsboro is Monday.

Cpl. Glaeser joins the department’s other three full-time officers — Chief Flood, Sgt. Nicholas Disciullo and Cpl. Anthony Valenti. The department also has part-time officers Rene McKinnon and Megan Loulou.

“We are committed to serving our community and are working hard to provide the best service and safety we can however,” said Chief Flood.

The fourth full-time officer will bring the department’s manpower staffing back to its level from two years ago, Chief flood said, but not at the level he believes is currently needed for full coverage.

“This fourth full-time officer will still not bring us up to the proper number of officers needed for 24/7 coverage,” Chief Flood said.

At Dagsboro’s May council meeting, Chief Flood requested that the town consider a fourth full-time officer, saying it was needed. The plan was to cut back on part-time assistance.

“We will still use part-time officers as needed,” Chief Flood said.
