LEWES — The Coastal Georgetown Branch of the American Association of University Women will meet at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16 at the Lewes Library.

Delaware and the “Green Book,” the travel guide used by mid-20th Century African American motorists to find friendly accommodations in segregated states, will be the focus of the meeting.

Carlton Hall, a cultural preservation specialist and historian for the Delaware State Historic Preservation Office will speak.

He was named to the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s 2018 list “40 Under 40: People Saving Places” honoring individuals who’ve made a significant impact in historic preservation and related fields.

Mr. Hall graduated from Delaware State University with a master’s degree in Historic Preservation and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

In his spare time, he enjoys working out, traveling and learning West African culture. Mr. Hall is also an Underground Railroad and African American history enthusiast.
