Wicomico Recreation: Good Beer Festival coming this weekend

Posted

Wicomico County Recreation & Parks’ Good Beer Festival will be back at Pemberton Historical Park for the 12th year on Friday through Saturday, Oct. 14-15. As always, the festival features numerous craft breweries, the Local Beer Garden, live music and food vendors – offering an all-around great time. There are also some newer ways you can be part of this year’s festival.

Whiskey & Randy’s Adult Spelling Bee

Whiskey & Randy’s Adult Spelling Bee is back for its second year. Last year, spellers tackled beer-themed words that ranged from the super easy – “hops” – to the ridiculous – “lactobacillus.” This year, there will be a different theme and a difficulty level in between those two.

The spelling bee begins at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, and 10 people will have the opportunity to register on-site. Whiskey and Randy, of the Froggy 99.9 show, will serve as hosts, and former library spelling bee champion Vanessa Junkin will be the judge. Come on out and test your skills – or watch and see how your friends fare.

Hypnosis with Marshal Manlove

If you’ve ever wanted to be hypnotized, here’s your chance. Hypnotist Marshal Manlove will do a show during the Good Beer Festival from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. Experience the show as a participant, or watch your friends be hypnotized.

Good Beard Competition

Whether you’ve been growing out your beard or not, you can participate in the new Good Beard Competition. Make your beard stand out with silly decorations or other creative looks. You can come with your beard ready or get assistance on-site from In The Art Room. The competition will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.

Tickets

Also new this year are VIP tickets, sponsored by Dogfish Head. VIPs have access to a separate entry to the festival (skip the line), a festival T-shirt, Dogfish Head swag and one pint ticket for a full pour of your choice. These tickets are $55, and there is a limit of 200.

Early bird tasting tickets are available through Friday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m. and are $30. Regular tasting tickets are $40. Non-tasting tickets are available for $10. Tickets can be redeemed either day of the festival.
