Start off Thanksgiving morning with Wicomico Rec & Parks’ 15th annual Turkey Trek 5K through the beautiful trails of Pemberton Historical Park.

There will be awards for the overall male and female winners and for first through third place, as well as male and female winners in several age groups. Participants can dress up and try to earn the award for Best Thanksgiving Costume.

This year a designated runner will be dressed as a turkey. All participants will be trying to outrun the “turkey” on the trails. Stickers will be awarded based on how competitive you were against the turkey’s time.

As a little added bit of motivation there will be refreshments and pie waiting for you at the finish line.

Registration is $35 for early registration and $40 after Nov. 10. Those who register before Nov. 1 will be guaranteed a long-sleeved race shirt; others will be first-come, first-served. Preregistration is available through 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17.

Pre-registered runners will be able to pick up their race bib and shirt at the Wicomico Civic Center box office Nov. 21- 22 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All proceeds from the race benefit Pemberton Nature Camp and other environmental programs. Pemberton Historical Park is located at 5561 Plantation Lane in Salisbury.
